[Novella] The Diary of a Superfluous Man (Ivan Turgenev)

Superfluous ManIt’s not a masterpiece like Fathers and Sons, but the touch of Ivan Turgenev’s genius still comes across in this novella about misery of human condition.

Positive: Negative:
Beautiful, effective prose Not really groundbreaking in any way (though I guess that’s in part the point)
Interesting, profound characters
Enlightening on Russian culture
Thought-provoking about the superfluousness of one’s life, kind of
