[Novel] Of Mice and Men (John Steinbeck)

of-mice-and-men

A story about the life of migrant ranch workers during the Great Depression that feels a little like a light prototype to The Grapes of Wrath. A worthwhile read if you like Steinbeck, but it lacks the punch compared to his greater works.

Positive: Negative:
Evocative, flowing prose Predictable plot
Interesting, likable, profound characters Feels a little simplistic compared to Steinbeck’s bigger works
Authentic depiction of farmer life during the Great Depression
Thought-provoking on kindness and other human values
