[Novel] Everville (Clive Barker)

everville

I love Clive Barker, but this sequel to The Great Secret Show carries all the same problems as the original and pretty much retells the same kind of story just under slightly different circumstances. I’m really confused as to why Clive Barker even thought it needed to exist.

Positive: Negative:
Engaging, dreamy prose So many characters it’s easy to lose track of who is who
Interesting, surreal setting The motivation of some characters is unclear
Dark, sinister atmosphere
The pace feels quite slow sometimes
The mystery of the ambiguous “Art” keeps one engaged Feels like a retread of basically the same thing as the previous book
Thought-provoking on solipsism a bit
